As high performance steels, High Speed Grades offer high hardness at temperatures up to 500°C and high wear resistance. High speed steel has more advantages to the standard high carbon tool steel specifications. It will withstand increases in temperature without losing its temper and this enables the steel to cut faster than high carbon steel. Hence the name high speed steel. Stocks are held in the tungsten molybdenum type high speed steel. Cobalt molybdenum high speed steel grades are also available, which offer high hardness, excellent cutting properties with high red hardness and good toughness.

1) M2 High Speed Steel (M2) is a tungsten-molybdenum high speed steel with a well balanced composition suitable for a wide variety of applications. World wide, the M2 type is by far the most popular high speed steel having replaced T1 high speed in most applications because of its superior properties and relative economy.

Molybdenum high speed steels are designated as Group M steels according to the AISI classification system. Over 95% of high-speed steels manufactured in the US are group M steels. Tungsten is present in all types from M1 to M10, except M6, and cobalt is not present in any these steels. Molybdenum high speed steels have similar performance when compared to tungsten high-speed steels. However, the initial cost of molybdenum tool steels is lower. Titanium nitride, titanium carbide and several other coatings can be used in the tools made of this kind of steels through physical vapor deposition process to improve the performance and life span of the tool.

3)M42 super high speed steel bars manufacturer is a premium cobalt high speed steel with a chemical composition designed for high hardness and superior hot hardness. These properties make the steel an excellent choice for machining high-strength and pre-hardened steels, high-hardness alloys, and the difficult-to-machine, nonferrous super alloys used in the aerospace, oil, and power generation industries.

M42 exhibits excellent wear resistance by virtue of high heat-treated hardness (68 to 70 HRC), and the high cobalt content imparts the hot hardness. As such, the cutting edges on tools made from M42 super high speed steel stay sharp and hard in heavy-duty and high-production cutting applications.
